Project Completed: Homecasher - Website and Branding

Homecasher is a new property company offering 'sell your home quickly' service for people looking to sell the homes rapidly due to an unforeseen change in circumstance.

They approached Type One Creative to have a look at developing a brand identity for them and also into designing a website for them. The website has aimed to be informative, friendly and functional. With an easy to fill out quote form available throughout the site.  Also included in the budget was  a neat scrolling gallery on the home page. As usual budgets and timescales were tight but it was a pleasure working with the Homecahser guys and we turned the project around quickly and on budget.

Case Study > Intamesh

We thought it might be interesting to show you an example of  a brand overhaul we completed recently.

The client in question was Newbury based Intamesh.

Intamesh offers the most comprehensive range of architectural mesh products to suit every technical requirement. These products are high end, architectural wires and meshes that add a contemporary and sculptural from all kinds of objects from benches and floor panels to shopping centre facades.

The company asked us to look at both their branding and website to see what we could do.
We looked at their current branding and quickly established two lines of attack.

1.   Bring the brand and website in-line with the products themselves in order to represent the contemporary nature of the products.

2.   Overhaul the brand to appeal to its target audience. Ie. The architectural industry.

So here is the previous website with its logo top centre.

As you can the site and logo lack that ‘designed’ feel. Both  are very basic, and although the site itself is functional it lacks any form of visual design.  You would find it hard to imagine this website and branding appealing to its potential customer base, who as architects themselves are quite visually influenced so a well designed site and branding are essential.

Below are both our new website design and logo.

As you can see we bought in a strong consistent colour scheme, overhauled the logo to give it a sleek look to bring help it represent the product better.

As well as visually being redesigned, the site has a more in depth product gallery,  SEO overhaul and has been reordered to make it easier to navigate. As well as this there is a clear contact section whereby the user can enquire about the Intamesh product range. The final touch was to add a fancy scrolling image gallery to the home page which adds that extra professional touch.

You can view the website here.

The Importance of Logo & Brand Indentity to Small Businesses.

We often get people questioning why they would need a good logo design...  This article below from Jeremy Schafer pretty much answers that common query...

A logo represents a company – it defines its identity – its purpose. It is an integral part of a company’s brand strategy.

Without a logo or brand identity it would be impossible for a consumer to identify one product or service from the next.

 Brand Connection
Most consumers have very strong opinions regarding their favorite brand. These opinions are more emotional than rational. Some brands (e.g. Nike, Coca-Cola etc.) resonate with customers more than others. They form an emotional attachment to these brands, often disregarding better products and services for ones with higher visibility and brand recognition.
Some brands even become synonymous with the product and the consumer starts recognizing the product by its brand name (e.g. Xerox).
It is therefore of the utmost importance that every company – especially the small business, has a sound brand strategy and a strong brand identity with a unique identifiable logo.

Logo Design & Brand Identity

Brand Identity and Small Business Logo Design helps small businesses in many ways. A few of the more important ones are listed below.
  1. It helps give the company an established and professional feel. This increases the customers trust in the products or services the company offers.
  2. A powerful brand identity is important as in general, people find it easier to recall images than text. There is an old saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”. The logo represents that picture and can be remembered and identified with greater ease than a thousand words describing the company.
  3. Logo graphics can bring about awareness of the products or services that you offer in cases where the company name is not self-explanatory.
  4. As the company grows, the consumer base stays loyal to the brand.
  5. The brand value generated can also be leveraged when selling stock in the company or the company itself for a higher perceived value than the actual value.
